Nothing here was made to look new.
Ganesha is terracotta, shaped by hand and painted by hand. The temple is fibreglass, cast and finished to carry the rough, pitted face of stone that has stood somewhere a long time. Lift it once and you will understand: at 1.2 kg it weighs more than a piece this size looks like it should.
No two of the 108 idols are the same. Yours will carry its own small marks, left by the hands that made it. The temples are cast, so every temple matches. We would rather tell you which is which.

Seven inches, 1.2 kg.
Small enough for a desk or a bedside table, heavy enough that it feels like an object rather than an ornament.

Keep Ganesha where life actually happens.
Not only in a traditional prayer room. Keep the shrine where you work, return home, pause, pray, or begin something new.
- An everyday presence
- A quiet presence in a living space you already use.
- For a new beginning
- A new home, a new venture, a new chapter.
- To keep or to give
- It arrives in a cotton potli, ready to be given.
- Small enough to keep close
- Seven inches tall, about three deep.

Hang it on a wall, or make it stand.
There is a recessed keyhole slot in the flat back, so the temple goes on a wall as easily as it sits on a table, a shelf or a windowsill. The hibiscus and durva at Ganesha's feet are made by hand from paper, so they will look the same in five years as they do on the first day.

Thoughtful down to the smallest offering.
Every element was chosen so the shrine feels complete from the moment you open the box.
- Terracotta Ganesha
- Terracotta, shaped and painted by hand. The form follows an old idea: the Ganesha you come across rather than the one you commission, the way the Ashtavinayak shrines grew around stones that already looked like him.
- Stone-finish fibreglass temple
- Fibreglass, cast and finished to look like weathered stone, which is why all 108 match. Presence without bulk.
- Handmade hibiscus
- Made from delicate crepe paper and removable, so you can arrange the offering as you prefer.
- Handmade durva
- Also handmade from crepe paper, completing the two offerings traditionally associated with Ganesha.
- Cotton potli
- Your shrine arrives in a printed cotton potli, protected with honeycomb paper wrapping inside a printed kraft box.
- Your mantra gift card
- A printed card with a QR code. Scan it to activate your complimentary year of Ancient Chants from India, Gold Edition.
- Ready to place
- No assembly required. Unwrap it, choose your space, and make the shrine your own.

Dress it for the festival. Keep it all year.
A garland and a plate of modak, and it becomes the centre of the room. Dress it for the festival when you feel like it. Leave it plain the rest of the year and the presence is still there, without the glitter.

Please keep flames away from the shrine. The hibiscus, the durva and the wrapping inside the box are paper. Place a diya at a safe distance, or use an electric one.

It has helped bring a sense of calm & tranquility to the house and more importantly to us. Greatful for this.
I listen to Mahakatha every morning. It fills the emotional void in my life since I lost my soulmate husband 2 years ago. It gives me the courage to wake up and face each day of my life. It fills me with inner peace.
Upon listening to Mahaktha for the first time, I tears began to stream down my face while I smiled in relief. Obviously, I had tension built up that I wasn’t even aware of. Thank you for such a wonderful gift.
the mantras really helped me focus while studying and i felt more closer to maa saraswati and it calmed me too.
I stumbled upon Mahakatha channel a couple of months before and I listen to the mantras every morning when I do my asanas and pranayama. It has become an integral part of my yoga journey. Thank you so much!

Published as written, spelling and all. These were collected through our review form, which offered a discount code in return, and they describe the mantras rather than the shrine. We make no claim that any object changes what happens in your life.
Created not merely to be displayed.
But to become a quiet reminder of what you want to welcome into your life.

From Prashant M, Founder, Mahakatha
Why this Ganesha means something to us.
Dear Friend,
Bring Ganesha Home was never supposed to be merchandise.
The idea first came to us while we were thinking about our small, intimate Mahakatha live experiences. We kept asking ourselves one question. What could someone take home from an experience like that?
Not a souvenir. Not something with our name printed on it. We wanted it to be something that could carry a little of the feeling home with you.
That thought stayed with me. The original moment passed, but the idea never really did. Eventually it became this: a Ganesha, a temple, a hibiscus, durva, and a small sacred space you could make your own.
There is another part of this story that makes the choice of Ganesha especially meaningful to me. More than two decades ago, long before Mahakatha existed, the first cassette album Preeti and I made together was a Ganesha album.
I did not plan that connection when we began creating this. I realised it later. And when I did, it felt obvious. Of course the first physical thing we made had to begin with Ganesha.
So we became a little unreasonable about the details. The form of Ganesha. The temple. The handmade hibiscus. The handmade durva. The potli. Even the way everything is discovered when the box is opened. There were easier ways to make almost every part of it. But we would have known. And because this was our first one, that mattered.
After a few days, I hope he stops feeling like something you purchased. I hope he simply feels like he belongs there.
On your desk. At the entrance to a new home. Beside your bed. In your prayer space. In an office where something new is beginning.
I am not going to tell you that bringing this Ganesha home will magically change your life. I do not believe in making promises like that. But I do believe objects can remind us of things. Of what matters. Of where we want our attention to return. Of faith. Of beginnings. And sometimes, of the feeling that we do not have to carry everything alone.
We have put an enormous amount of heart and work into this first release. If you choose to bring one home, your support means more to us than another order appearing on a screen. It tells us there is room for Mahakatha to keep making things with this kind of care. Things you can hold, experience, gift and make part of your everyday life.
We would genuinely love for you to have one. And if one of these Ganeshas finds a permanent corner in your life, all the work that went into making it will have been worth it.
Prashant M, Founder, Mahakatha
P.S. We made 108 pieces for this first release because we wanted the freedom to make the first edition carefully. If one of them feels right for your space, we would be very happy for you to have it.
Frequently asked questions.
Product, delivery and Mahakatha access questions in one place.
What exactly comes inside the box?
A painted terracotta Ganesha, a stone-finish fibreglass temple, a handmade crepe-paper hibiscus, a handmade crepe-paper durva, a printed cotton potli, honeycomb wrap and a printed kraft box, your mantra gift card, and one year of Ancient Chants from India, Gold Edition.
Does the shrine require assembly?
No. It arrives ready to place. The hibiscus and durva are removable, so you may arrange them however you prefer.
Can I hang it on a wall?
Yes. There is a recessed keyhole slot in the flat back, so it hangs on a wall as easily as it stands on a surface.
Is Ganesha blessed?
No, and we will not tell you otherwise. This was made with care, and that is all we will claim.
Is the whole thing handmade?
The idol is terracotta, shaped and painted by hand. The temple is cast fibreglass with a stone finish, which is why all 108 temples match. The flowers are handmade from crepe paper.
Will every piece look exactly like the photographs?
Very close. Because several elements are handmade, slight variations in colour, texture and finish are natural, and they are part of the character of each piece.
Where can I keep it?
It was designed for everyday spaces: a work desk, entrance console, bedside, bookshelf, office, meditation corner, or an existing prayer space.
What does the Mahakatha access include?
One year of Ancient Chants from India, Gold Edition, which is the full Mahakatha Mantra Library: 54 collections holding more than 280 mantras. It sells for ₹2,499 a year on its own, and it is included with Bring Ganesha Home.
When does the complimentary year begin?
It begins when you scan the QR code on the mantra gift card in your box, not on the day you order.
Does the Mahakatha access renew automatically?
No. Nothing renews and no card is ever charged automatically. When the year ends we will invite you to continue, and it is entirely your choice.
What if I already have Mahakatha access?
Write to support@mahakatha.com after receiving your shrine and our team will help you with your complimentary year.
How should I clean it?
A soft, dry cloth only. Please avoid water or a damp cloth on the terracotta Ganesha, the fibreglass temple and the handmade paper elements. Keep flames at a safe distance: the flowers and the inner wrapping are paper.
How long does delivery take?
Each piece is dispatched within 48 hours and reaches most parts of India within about ten days of dispatch, depending on where you are.
What if my shrine arrives damaged?
Email support@mahakatha.com within 3 days of delivery with photographs of the damaged item and the packaging. We will arrange a replacement wherever possible, and issue a refund if replacement is not.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
This is a first edition of 108, so there are no change-of-mind returns. Damage in transit is always covered.
Do you ship outside India?
Not for this edition. Bring Ganesha Home is available for delivery within India only.
